The role is both market and supply facing and will require a high degree of communication, engagement and interaction within the Innovation and Marketing teams, the broader technical community, Supply Centers, 3rd Party Co-packers and Suppliers. 
 

This role will

• Ensure that Diageo’s reputation is protected through the execution of supplier audit, and to ensure that actions are in place and executed to address any gaps or risks identified.
• Deliver required quality for both locally produced and imported products through ensuring that local producers have the right quality processes and systems in place.
• Ensure Brand Technical Equity/Food Safety obligations and that relationships are built and maintained with Diageo Supply Centre Quality Teams to take rapid and sustainable resolution to identified quality issues.
• Serve as a quality expert to our stakeholders by troubleshooting quality issues at plant and product.
• Support the global projects for new business development and supply footprint improvement.
• Support the commercialization process towards the launch of new products.

Relationships
This role will work closely with:

• Supply Chain Director, Technical manager, Supply manager, Demand and Supply planner, Logistics manager, Brand manager and commercial team in DJKK
• Diageo’s Innovation Team, Center of Excellence, Regulatory Technical Center and Plants
• Diageo’s 3PO (3rd Party Operation) and Procurement Team in APAC
• 3PL warehouse in Japan
• Moet Hennessy Diageo Japan, Kirin Brewery and Nishuhan

Market Complexity

Duties and responsibilities

• Support commercialization process of finished products including label development and product specification integrity.
• Responsible for all aspects of quality control activities of raw materials, in-line and finished products.
• Ensure that (current, new) products meet standards set both by companies and government (regulatory) authorities, which includes inspecting/auditing suppliers’ facilities (manufacturing sites/factory). (Ex.) product specifications, manufacturing process, traceability.
• Manage and monitors whether outsourced product meets with Diageo quality standard, discuss with 3PO and take appropriate corrective action if necessary.
• Help each Diageo site to take appropriate improvement action based on Route to Market (RTM) partner’s inspection results and feedback in timely manner.
• Minimize 100% inspection cost of any of Diageo products received by stakeholders.
• Facilitate direct communication between Diageo plants and stakeholder to identify root cause and resolve quality issues at Diageo plants. 
• Work closely with 3PO Management and Procurement Team in APAC to set up appropriate manufacturing process in 3PO plants.

Qualifications
Education and basic requirement

• University or higher degree required, degree in Chemistry or Food Science related preferred.
• Japanese and English business level required.

Experience and Skills

• More than 3 years-quality experience in food/beverage industry or related industry
• Good knowledge of manufacturing process or plant operations - experiences in food/beverage plant preferred.
• Good knowledge of food safety, environment and work safety system, e.g.FSSC22000, ISO14000, HACCP etc.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to travel outside and inside of Japan.
• Able to work under pressure and tight time frame.
